Anthony "Tony" Howard Goldwyn born May 20, 1960 in Los Angeles, CA, USA - is an American actor and director who portrays President Fitzgerald Grant in ABC's Scandal.

Personal Background

Tony is married to production designer Jane Musky; they married in 1987 and have two daughters, Anna Musky-Goldwyn and Tess Frances Goldwyn. He attended Hamilton College in Clinton, New York; Brandeis University, Waltham, Massachusetts where he received his B.F.A., and also attended the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts. Tony studied drama at HB Studio in Greenwich Village in New York City.

He is the son of actress Jennifer Howard and producer Samuel Goldwyn Jr. Grandson of actress Clare Eames and playwright Sidney Howard on his mother's side; grandson of actress Frances Howard and producer Samuel Goldwyn on his father's side. Tony's sister-in-law was actress Colleen Camp until her divorce from Tony's brother, John Goldwyn, who is the President of Paramount Studios. And his niece is Emily Goldwyn.

Career Background

He is most recognizable as the villain Carl Bruner in Ghost, but also portrayed Colonel Bagley in The Last Samurai, and was the voice of the title character of the Disney animated movie Tarzan. In the HBO miniseries From the Earth to the Moon (1998), he played astronaut Neil Armstrong, the first man to walk on the moon. Later, he had the chance to direct Armstrong in a film called a A Walk on the Moon (1999, in which Armstrong was a narrator.

As a stage actor, Tony has appeared twice in Off-Broadway shows at Second Stage Theatre and on Broadway at Circle in the Square Theatre. At Second Stage he appeared in Theresa Rebeck's Spike Heels (1992) alongside Kevin Bacon and Julie White. In the summer of 2006 at Second Stage Theatre he starred opposite Kate Burton in another Rebeck play, The Water's Edge. Goldwyn played J.D. Sheldrake, the philandering business executive, in the Broadway musical Promises, Promises starring Sean Hayes and Kristin Chenoweth.
