About[]

On the evening of May 14, 2015 the cast of Scandal gathered for a Paleyfest panel in New York to celebrate the Season Four Finale episode "You Can't Take Command" of Scandal - moderated by Lara Spencer.

Synopsis[]

One of the medium’s most exciting and talked-about dramas, ABC’s Scandal has been hailed as “a suspenseful, juicy romp” by the New York Times and in four incident-packed seasons has never failed to live up to that assessment. A ratings winner and what the LA Times called “must-tweet TV,” Shonda Rhimes’s political thriller has recently been bestowed with the prestigious Peabody Award. Kerry Washington—who, when the show debuted in 2012, became the first African-American woman in four decades to take the lead in a network drama—stars as fearless crisis management “fixer” Olivia Pope, heading an outstanding cast as they navigate through quite literally explosive plotlines of intrigue and betrayal, D.C.–style. Washington will be joined for a panel discussion by fellow cast members Guillermo Díaz, Scott Foley, Tony Goldwyn, Joshua Malina, Jeff Perry, Portia de Rossi, Darby Stanchfield, and Bellamy Young -Paley Center Website

Quotes[]

"One of my favorite moments in this season is when Olivia said to Jake, 'I choose me'. I don't think she can make a choice about who her partner is going to be until she works some stuff out."

Kerry Washing is on team Olivia

"All of us feel a lot of pride to be a part of a show that fits all of these huge social issues into the fabric of our characters. These are issues that naturally fold into our storylines, and it is done so beautifully."

Portia de Rossi on Scandal tackling real-life issues

"My mom was visiting once when Tony was directing and she got so angry with me and said 'Why do you treat him like that?'. But in all honesty he knows the show, and he's a really good director. It's nice to have one of our own direct us."

Kerry Washing on Tony Goldwyn directing

"I thought, 'people get stabbed and come back.' When we first shot the scene he stabbed me once and I thought everything was going to be okay but then we had to go back and reshoot it, and he just kept stabbing me. And I was looking around at the director waiting for him to tell him to stop. I actually sent Shonda an email afterwards asking her if there was anything she wanted to tell me, and she said 'I already killed you on one show, it's not going to happen again.'"
