Quotes[]

"We all have insane levels of gratitude that people watch, that people tweet, that people talk about it with each other and join us for an hour every week. It means a lot to us. There are a lot of people in my life I don't get to spend an hour a week with. So the fact that people, millions of people, take an hour out of their week to be with us means a great deal to us."

Kerry Washington on Scandal's 100 episodes

"Between the politics and between the affairs and ... just what goes on within this group of people, on camera, I think that's what brings them back. It's a page turner. You want to know what's going to happen in the next episode."

Joe Morton on why Scandal is so relateable

“One of the reasons we’ve been able to maintain this sense of family…is the woman sitting to my right (Kerry), she’s the greatest team captain you could ever want and she takes the role so seriously and with so much humility, enthusiasm and energy.”

Tony Goldwyn on Kerry being the Captain

“It hurts, I can taste it, nothing would make me happier. Shonda can wring you dry like a sponge!”

Bellamy Young on Mellie becoming President

“I always believe in a happy ending. I think in the next couple episodes, I think we’ll see more crumbs of the beautiful pie that could be or could not be Mellie and Marcus.

Cornelius Smith Jr. on Mellie and Marcus' relationship

“The whole show’s evolution has been interesting to me because I remember early on shooting the pilot, and once we got to the second episode I realized, ‘Oh! It’s not a procedural, it’s a thriller,’ and after the third one I thought, ‘Oh, it’s not a thriller, it’s a political intrigue show,’ and every episode I learned a little bit more about what this show was, and I think that it’s been similar in terms of my character. David started out the straightest of straight arrows, the self-proclaimed wearer of the white hat, and I think like all of the other characters, we’ve learned that he’s all too human and susceptible to corruption. He’s extorted his way to a position of power. It’s kind of an ends justify the means argument. So he’s still trying to do the right thing, but I think he writers have created really interesting moral dilemmas for me to play.”
